This category comprises superb quality canvases, each crafted entirely by hand in line with traditional methods. To make these, we use thick, raw linen fabric which is mounted by hand onto the stretcher bars and then “pasted” with two layers of gelatine and custom made primer, including transparent and hand made primers. This surface preparation process, combining traditional approach with a modern technology, provides an excellent substrate for painting. The edges of the canvas are raw, emphasising the natural and authentic look of the material, yet can be primed on request.
