This category comprises superb quality canvases, each crafted entirely by hand in line with traditional methods. To make these, we use thick, raw linen fabric which is mounted by hand onto the stretcher bars and then “pasted” with two layers of gelatine and covered with two or three layers of a high-quality all-purpose acrylic gesso-type primer. This surface preparation process, combining traditional approach with a modern technology, provides an excellent substrate for painting. The edges of the canvas are raw, emphasising the natural and authentic look of the material.
