Our primed cotton stretched canvases are created with attention to detail, each handmade according to traditional methods. In their production we use thick, raw cotton fabric which is mounted by hand onto the stretcher bars. The fabric is then “pasted” with two layers of gelatine in order to protect the material and prepare it for the next stage, i.e. priming. For the latter process, we use two layers of a high-quality all-purpose acrylic gesso-type primer, which provides an ideal painting surface, usually slightly more polished than in linen canvases. The edges of the canvas are raw, adding a distinctive and authentic feel to it.
